Striped grayling - Pseudotergumia fidia

Family: Satyridae

Flight Time: June - August

Size: 56-62mm

Altitude: 0-1400m

Similar in habits to the Tree grayling, but instantly recognisable (on settling) by the strong white banding. They seemed very alert to any movement and proved quite tough to get close enough to photograph. This one landed conveniently on a wall. This specimen was photographed in Provence.
